Keynote speaker Steven Pinker

The main point of our conference is problem of human behaviour and evolution. Social evolution, natural selection, evolution of selfish genetic elements and social theory - all these questions will be considered by speakers from different universities, invited for this event.

The keynote speaker on the conference is a Canadian-American experimental psychologist, cognitive scientist Steven Pinker. Well-known for his researches in evolutionary psychology he will represent his report "The Blank Slate".

Actually, to say "report" means to say nothing. "The Blank Slate" is much more - it's a book, moreover it is a best-selling 2002 book by Steven Pinker, which was nominated for the Aventis Prizes 2003 and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.

Pinker searches subject of human behavior, that shaped by evolutionary psychological adaptations. He examines fears of the social and political consequences of human nature: "the fear of inequality", "the fear of imperfectability", "the fear of determinism", "the fear of nihilism". The main goal of investigator is to come closer to understanding of working mechanisms of our brains.

In the whole it seems senseless to narrate about this book, as on the conference you will have a great chance to listen to this serious report by yourself. Steven Pinker gives you a possibility to discover something new in questions of evolutionary psychology.
